IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Yvonne
Hutcherson
October 28, 1917 – June 10, 2025
Yvonne M. Hutcherson, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away on June 10th, 2025, at the remarkable age of 107.
Affectionately known as "Memere" to her family, Yvonne was born on October 28, 1917, the eldest daughter of Emile and Lydia (Geoffrey) Labonte.
A generous, spirited, and hard-working woman, she had a deep love for cookbooks and was always eager to try out new recipes on her family and friends. Her specialties included a mock apple pie, made from Ritz crackers and margarine instead of apples and butter (a recipe she learned during World War II when staples were rationed). She delighted in discovering new restaurants—but if one didn't meet her standards, it promptly went on what she famously called "my list."
Yvonne worked for many years at Graham Paper in Holyoke, MA, before retiring to live first in Maryland, then in Florida with her daughter Jeanne and son-in-law Louis Nicolucci, who cared for her for more than 30 years.
She had a lifelong love of Massachusetts and returned every summer for many years to see family and friends. Almost no visit from Yvonne was complete without her making French-Canadian meat pies from scratch.
Yvonne had a knack for finding bargains at local clothing stores and always dressed with flair. She kept her kitchen well-stocked with cookies, candy, and a pig-shaped cookie jar brimming with pennies. She also had a love of travel; in her 80s, she took her first helicopter ride, over Kauai, embracing every moment.
Her family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Florida Shores Assisted Living in Melbourne, where she spent the last seven years of her life.
Yvonne was married twice; to the late Lorenzo Brodeur and the late Robert Hutcherson.
Yvonne is survived by her three grandsons: Michael (Stella) of Scottsdale, AZ; Guy (Lesley) of Caldwell, NJ; and Steven (Nancy) of Enterprise, AL. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren—Lindsay, Andrew, Kathryn, James, and Allison—as well as by many nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her four brothers, Alfred, Emile Leo, Romeo, and Gerald; and by her two sisters, Yvette Labonte and Annette Foley. She was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law.
A funeral service will be scheduled in Massachusetts where she will be buried with her beloved parents.
