Wynell Harris (Nana), 85, of Melbourne, FL, was called home on Sunday, January 7, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimers.

She was born to the late William Henry and Ida Durden on December 29, 1932 in DeFuniak Springs, FL.  Wynell graduated from Walton High School in 1950.  She met her late Husband William Hartzel Harris through her cousin Johnny Herring who was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base with him.  They married in Gulfport, Mississippi on October 3, 1953 and relocated to Melbourne in 1956 for Bill to start work with PanAm.

Wynell began work with Radiation (now Harris Corporation) in 1958 in Purchasing and remained employed within several Harris divisions until her retirement in 2000 as an Executive Assistant in Business Development.

Wynell and Bill were active members of Evangel Temple in Rockledge until Bill's death in 1987.  She was faithful worshipper at Calvary Chapel in Melbourne.  Her love for the Lord was undeniable and she looked forward to Heaven and being reunited with Bill and family and friends that had gone before her.

After her retirement, Wynell enjoyed watching her grandsons' play baseball and was proud to be Baseball Nana to the Palm Bay High Baseball team.  One of her last outings was to watch her grandson, Eli play T-ball.  She was an excellent "southern style" cook; but, was famous for her brownies and was happy to make a pan for anybody that asked.

Wynell took great joy in having her hair done every week.  Her family always joked that you could bounce a quarter off her head because of the amount of hairspray she used.

Wynell is survived by her children Zela (Tom) Ford of Viera and Greg (Kelly) Harris of Malabar.  She is also survived by four grandchildren Stacey Tobin (fiancé Ric Woodward), Brandon Ford (Melissa), Shayne Harris (Becky) and Zachary Harris (Heather).  She was also the proud Nana to five great-grandchildren Grace and Saylor Tobin, Eli Ford and Emersyn and Gray Harris.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 29th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home.  A private burial will be held later in DeFuniak Springs.
