Obituary

Wilma Lorene Fox Daniel, aged 76, died April 20, 2016 at the William Child's Hospice House after a prolonged battle with emphysema and COPD, along with crippling back pain.

Wilma was born on July 16, 1939 in Rhodhiss, NC to Walter Fox and Coyet Smith Fox. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1957. In 1960 she married Leonard "Lynn" Daniel, and they moved to Melbourne in the mid 1970's.

Wilma began her career as a secretary in Hickory, NC. After moving to Melbourne, and without any formal training, she took on the legal world as a legal assistant for attorney Elting Storms. Together they took their expertise to Holmes Regional Medical Center's corporate counsel office in 1990. Wilma was on the ground floor in the formation of Health First, Inc. and continued on with attorney David Mathias after Elting's retirement. In 2004 Wilma retired from Health First. In the course of her career, she received many awards and much recognition from her employers. In addition to her work, Wilma enjoyed playing golf and was a talented sewing enthusiast.

Wilma leaves behind nieces Kim Fox McGlynn (Allen) and Donna Fox Pritchard, nephews Terry Fox and Dwayne Fox, great niece Amelia McGlynn, great nephews Aidan Fox and Duncan McGlynn, dear friends Susan and Kathy Wells, caregiver Judy Wells Culp, as well as numerous friends and colleagues. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard "Lynn" Daniel, her parents Walter and Coyet Fox, and brothers Melvin Fox and James "J.C." Fox. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
