William Thomas Ward, age 64, passed away peacefully at home on March 12th, 2016 after a short and difficult battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Janice Ward, and two daughters, Elizabeth (Michael) Durrence with granddaughter Abigail and Carolyn (Eric Litchfield). He is preceded in death by a daughter, Christina, who died in infancy. He is also survived by his siblings Kathie (John) Buying, Kevin (Louise) Ward, Joanne (Dan) Kinnally, and Maryellen (John) Sheridan along with many nieces and nephews.
Bill was born in December 1951 in Rockville Centre, New York to William and Marjorie (Dietzmann) Ward. Bill served honorably in the US Army and retired a CW2 in 1995 to Florida. Chief Ward had a second career as a High School JROTC Instructor with Rockledge High School where he had a positive influence and mentored many. Bill was a great family man and a loving father, husband, and grandpa. In retirement, Bill enjoyed seeing the world through cruising, camping and motorcycling. His family will always remember him a strong and loving person who provided so well for them. He will be deeply missed and he has left us many memories, stories and anecdotes of a life well lived.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel at 10 AM. All are welcome to attend the services and celebrate Bills' life. The Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations are sent to the Disabled American Veterans Organization via www.dav.org, or by calling 1-877-426-2838. The family would also like to thank Hospice of Health First for their support in caring for Bill at home.
