Bill passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay.
He was born on July 17, 1939 in Ripon, Wisconsin, son of William A. and Dorothy (Watson) Gundlach. Dr. Eldon Watson (Bill's Uncle) delivered him. He grew up in Arlington, a small village, 20 miles north of Madison.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Electrical Engineering, he pursued a career in what was then the cutting edge of computers. From Wisconsin, to Pittsburgh, to South Florida, he continued in development and analysis of computing. He also was an avid golfer and bridge player with Marion, his first wife (deceased). He continued to work as an independent consultant after moving to Melbourne, and never really retired until moving to Buena Vida in 2012.
At Buena Vida he was active in the Resident Association, as Treasurer, and enjoyed many bridge games, performances, activities, great food, and all Buena Vida has to offer.
He leaves his second wife, Joan O'Brien, who he met at Buena Vida; his sister Mary Falk, nieces Maureen and Molly along with their families; His sister-in-law Ruth and nephew Keith Connor, his wife Cathy, their 3 children and their offsprings.
He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on February 24, 2024 at 3pm at Buena Vida Estates in the sunroom, 2129 W. New Haven Avenue, Melbourne, Florida 32904.
