Bill DiBongrazio, 62, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Born in Trenton, he was a graduate of Steinert High School, class of '72. He was married to his best friend and soul mate on July 7, 1979 for almost 36 years. They lived together and raised their three daughters in Hightstown, New Jersey before retiring full time to West Melbourne, FL in 2008.
At age 49, Bill finished his 30 year career as a lieutenant at Wagner Correctional Facility with the NJ State Dept. of Corrections. He enjoyed playing baseball and slow-pitch softball, bowling, golfing, casino games, and wagering on horse racing in his spare time. He was an avid Yankee fan and loved spending time traveling with family and friends who enjoyed his quick wit and dry sense of humor.
Son of the late William J. DiBongrazio, he is survived by his mother Mary Louise (Pappano) DiBongrazio (Hamilton, NJ), his wife, Donna (Lacy) DiBongrazio, three daughters, Lacy (Las Vegas, NV) Ashley Pankow and her husband Mike (Spotswood, NJ), and Amy (Tampa, FL), his sister Denise D'Auria (Hamilton, NJ), and nephews Glenn (Hamilton, NJ) and Paul D'Auria (Hoboken, NJ), two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Phil and Joyce Lacy (Trenton, NJ) and Ken and Pam Lacy (Hightstown, NJ), and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Bordentown Elks, 11 Amboy Road, Bordentown, NJ, 08505, with a Memorial Ceremony beginning promptly at 7:30 pm. Friends, family, and co-workers who wish to pay their respects to Bill and his family members are invited to attend. A "Cash Bar" and "Dessert Buffet" will be provided. The family encourages attendees to come prepared to share a funny story or special memory about Bill at this special evening of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a tax deductible donation be made to his favorite non-profit 501(c)3 charity: Nana's House, P.O. Box 500885, Malabar, FL 32950.
