Obituary

William "Bill" Burdet t was born on March 11, 1938 in Nitro, West Virginia.  He graduated from Poca High School in 1956.  Bill loved & played football all through high school. He received a full scholarship for college to West Virginia Tech. As a Golden Bear, playing both offensive and defensive tackle he had a career ending shoulder injury. Which also ended  his scholarship. He worked multiple jobs to put himself  through college, while also supporting  his new bride (through his life he continued to demonstrate this strong work ethic and passed it on to  his children and grandchildren).  He graduated from West Virginia Tech in 1960.  He majored in Industrial Management , was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and FBLA.

He met the love of his life.... "The girl he was going to marry" Alice Faye in 1957 at the Varsity Club in Montgomery, WV while pursuing his Bachelors at WVT.  Bill & Alice eloped to Indiana and kept their marriage a secret for two years.  Together they lived a full life of love , laughter and adventure.  They were married just shy of 63 years, before Alice preceded him in death in October of 2019.

Bill was a Logistic Engineer for Radiation, Inc. later becoming Harris Corporation. He worked on many projects that took him across the globe. From guidance systems for our military & space industry ,  to wind sheer prediction and protection in aviation. With many more projects in between ( that we probably still can't talk about) that made our world a more convenient and safer place.  Bill retired after 33 years.

Bill loved his family fiercely. He was an excellent role model for his daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many of the neighborhood children.  He was kind, gracious and helped many others inconspicuously .

He loved  to fish, boat and spend time with family & friends. He was an avid fan of the football game. He enjoyed listening to old radio shows and audio books by Zane Grey  & other westerns.

Bill is survived by his loving daughters Vickie Lee Johns, Cathy Stickney (Tom) and Connie Hayes (Gene); grandchildren Tracy Lee, Anthony, Shawn, James Patrick, Traci, Tonya and Jerry; great grandchildren Kimberly, Haley, Sierra, Alicia, Aidan, Kayla and James.
