Obituary

Our father and beloved Papa, Woody Woodard, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 97.

Woody was born on November 20, 1927, in Johnston, Rhode Island, to Clarence and Hazel (Potter) Woodard. A proud veteran, he dedicated 20 years to military service—spending eight years as a lithographer in the U.S. Navy and 12 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from the military, he moved his family to Brevard County, Florida, in 1966, where he continued his career in the printing industry at Copyright Printing, Flamingo Printing and Harris Corp.

Woody loved swimming, fishing, boating, and golfing, and he was an avid bowler for many years. Always up for an adventure, he found joy in traveling and spending time with family and friends. In his later years, he was an active member of the Holiday Park community, where he enjoyed playing bocce and shooting pool.

He was preceded in death by his siblings—Harold, Marshall, Clarence, Hazel, Gladys, Muriel, and Pinky, and his wife of 68 years, Ann (Linares) Woodard of Swampscott, Massachusetts.

Woody is survived by his children: Stephen Woodard (Noraetta), Jo Ann Procter (Les), and Cheryl Dietz (Robert). He was a proud grandfather to Steve Woodard Jr. (Jill), Shaun Woodard, Crystal Dietz (Evan), Billy Dietz (Grace), and Nick Procter (Leigha). He also leaves behind three great-grandchildren—T.J. Woodard, Addison Abutayeh, and Jameson Dietz—as well as five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Lockmar Baptist Church in Palm Bay on March 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
