IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wayne Eugene
Farmer
July 13, 1955 – November 11, 2024
Wayne Eugene Farmer, 69, passed away unexpectedly on November 11, 2024, in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Born on July 13, 1955, in Washington D.C., Wayne lived a life marked by devotion to his family both human and canine, service to his country, and a passion for life's joys, both big and small.
Wayne graduated from Montgomery Blair High School before earning a Masters degree from Campbell University. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Marines, working in countries across the globe including Hungary, Japan and Germany, a commitment that reflected his deep patriotism and love for his country.
Professionally, Wayne was a respected Network Engineer and Program Manager, retiring from Verizon in Richmond, VA in 2022, after a distinguished career. His work was not just a job but a demonstration of his meticulous nature and forward-thinking mindset.
In retirement, Wayne found great joy in activities that nurtured both body and soul. He was an avid golfer, a regular at all the local dog parks, and a master chef known for his grilled culinary creations. Wayne's love for politics and world events made him a lively companion at gatherings, often engaging in spirited discussions over meals he had prepared. He was a great, outgoing, friendly guy who made it a point to learn everyone's name that crossed his path and also had numerous life long friendships from early years who he still remained close to.
He also always took great pride in being able to help his friends and family with his vast knowledge of everything from how to fix a roof to creating the perfect sear on a grilled steak.
Wayne's commitment to fitness was lifelong; from skiing and scuba diving in his younger years to golf and regular gym visits later in life, he cherished staying active. His love for sports was paralleled by his lifelong loyalty to the Baltimore Orioles, a team he followed passionately.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of over 25 years, Cynthia Mitchell, sons Aaron Farmer of Silver Springs MD, Brian Farmer and grandson Alex Farmer of Pocatello ID, sisters Rosemarie Dempsey of Mount Airy MD, Bonnie Geiger of Millsboro DE, Lorraine Farrell of Edgewater MD and brother Terry Farmer of Hopkinton NH. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Catherine Mattox and Marvin Eugene Farmer.
He is also survived by his 3 dogs, Henry James, Izzie and Benny, whom he also considered his children.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, 560 Montreal Ave, Melbourne FL 32955., on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from noon to 2 pm.
