Walter Thomas James, Jr., 88 of Melbourne passed away August 4, 2018. He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on June 22, 1930 to the late W. T. James, Sr and Viola (Bolton) James. He was raised in Charlotte, North Carolina where he graduated from Harding High School and attended the University of North Carolina. He received his Bachelors degree from Barry University, Miami Shores, Florida.

He served with the United States Air Force 355th Flight Training Wing in Sherman, Texas from 1950 - 1953 during the Korean War and returned to Charlotte and University North Carolina. He moved to Burlington, North Carolina to work at the Bell laboratories. It was there he met and married his wife Alice in 1957. They moved to Melbourne in 1959 where he joined Radiation, Inc. He retired in 1994 as a Staff Engineer with the Harris Corporation.

Tom is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years Alice (Boyette) James on June 29, 2017.  He is survived by his daughter Jodi (James) and son-in-law Robert Lovejoy, Jr. of Rockledge, a grandson Clayton Thomas Lovejoy and his wife Kayla of Spencer, Indiana and a niece Ms. Barbara Boyette of West Melbourne.  Survivors also include 35 nieces and nephews from South Carolina, North Carolina and Texas.
