Walter H. Gordon, 84, of Palm Bay, Florida died Friday, December 19, 2014 of an extended illness. He was born in Anderson, IN. He worked and retired from Delco Remy Division of General Motors as a self-taught mechanical engineer. His favorite quote was from physicist Stephen Hawking, "We each exist for but a short time, and in that time explore but a small part of the whole universe". Walter retired to Palm Bay with his wife of almost 25 years, Sharon K. Gordon where they enjoyed the warmer climate. Walter loved traveling, working with his hands and visiting area events with his wife and Yorkies.
Walter is survived by his wife, Sharon K. Gordon; son, Robert H. Gordon of Casper, WY; daughter, Debra A. Kollros of Anderson, IN; grandsons, Paul A. Kollros, John David Kollros and Chad Gordon; granddaughter, Kasey Gordon Clark and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-son, Richard Kendall of Anderson, IN; step-daughter, Shelia Jarvi of Palm Bay, FL as well as step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dixie A. Gordon; parents, Halmond T. Gordon and Ava Jane (Brown) Gordon; brothers, Wilmer Louis Gordon, Charles Gordon, Dee Gordon, and sisters, Waunita Gordon Cheney and Wanda Gordon Wisler. Also preceding him in death are his step-sons, Eric Kendall and Gerry Kendall.
Services will be conducted in the spring of 2015 in Anderson, IN. Walter received devoted administration of care from the VITAS Hospice and supported their endeavor. Those thinking of making contributions might consider the VITAS Hospice Program here in Brevard County or support the Brevard Aid to Animals on Aurora Rd in Melbourne where his Yorkies received excellent care.
