Obituary

Virginia Marie Dillinger (née Stewart) of Melbourne, FL passed away on May 14, 2018 while resting comfortably in her home with her daughters by her side at the age of 86.

Loved ones live on in our memories. Here's how we remember Virginia Dillinger:

Known as Ginny to her friends, she was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY before she moved to Long Island to raise her "Von Trapp" family while returning to college to earn her R.N. degree.

She was an extraordinary woman. Even with her busy daily schedule of co-parenting 9 kids, working full time, and returning to college to get her degree, she still found time to be impeccably dressed and do the things she loved -- playing the piano and dancing. From ballroom to square dancing at Jones Beach, music was an integral part of her life -- even up to the days before she left us, she continually hummed.

She was articulate, silver tongued, and expressive.  She had an eloquence to her writing, too. Whether it was the annual Christmas Family letter, a bachelor/bachelorette party poem or a graduation card, she had a flair and love for it. She loved and was devoted to her husband, Dick, her many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren like no others. She will live on forever in our hearts and minds.

Ginny is preceded in death by her parents John & Muriel Stewart, brother Robert (Bob) Stewart, stepdaughter Wendy Dillinger, and her husband and love of her life, Richard A. Dillinger.

She leaves behind her many Children and Stepchildren , Ricky, Glenn, Cindy (Jerry), Mike (Luciane), Buddy (Marjorie), Kathie (Joseph), Karen (Barry) and David (Michelle), as well as Grandchildren Eric, Bryant, Elizabeth, Paige, Jordan, Thomas, Emilia, Nicholas, Daniel, Timothy, Nicole, Kristine, Kimberly, Steven, Melissa, Matthew, Kyle, Dylan, Samantha, Ethan, Noah, Eric, and Great Grandchildren Shannon, Austin, Kaiden, Ezra, Benjamin, Clara, Theo, and Mason.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for our mom, Virginia M. Dillinger along with our father, Richard Albert Dillinger, will be held on June 22 at 1:30 pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, US Hwy 1, North, Mims, FL 32754.
