Mrs. Uraiporn (Samranvong) Tonyai, age 49, lost her three year battle with breast cancer and passed away peacefully at home in Melbourne, FL on March 4, 2016 with her husband at her bedside. She was born in Bangkok, Thailand an only child on August 28, 1966. She came to the United States in 1976 with her mother and step-father. She graduated from Eau Gallie High School in 1985. In her youth she loved tennis, in her adult life she enjoyed gardening, growing fruit trees, had many pets, enjoyed Thai cooking, music, and movies. Uraiporn was a pleasant, kind, gentle, caring individual who made friends easily and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Boonthavee Tonyai, mother, Booncharoen Romascavage, step-father Stanley L. Romascavage of Melbourne, FL, numerous immediate relatives in Thailand and in-laws by marriage in the US and Thailand. She is survived by the families of Wayne and Madeline Romascavage, Gary and Jane Romascavage of Allentown, PA.
A practicing Buddist, she was a longtime member of the Thai Buddist Temple Wat Florida Dhammaran in Kissimmee. Uraiporn was a long time hostess at Mokoto's Japanese Steakhouse in Melbourne, until she was afflicted with cancer. After high school she had been employed by K-Mart in Melbourne and by several restaurants in the New York City area prior to working at Makoto's.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 9:30-11:00 am followed by a celebration of her life at 11:00 at DAVIS SEAWINDS FUNERAL HOME, 560 Montreal Avenue, Melbourne.
