Obituary

Thomas Ervin Clawson, age 76, of Melbourne, was welcomed into his eternal home in Heaven on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Born in 1943 to Wendell Day and Dorothy Mae Clawson of Homer City, Pennsylvania, Tom was an alum of Laura Lamar High School.  It was there he met the love of his life, Georgianna "Ann" McMasters, and the two were wed in 1961.

Anyone who met Tom knew of his deep love and adoration for Ann.  Their marriage was built upon compassion and constant support for each other as they served as role models for their generations to come.  As a Life Member of the Good Sam Club, they enjoyed traveling the open road in their RV attending jamborees and rallies and hosting big family meals around the holidays. The RV was Tom's preference for getting to special family occasions trekking it to places as far as camp in Tionesta, Boston, and Roanoke among a few. His creative outlet in life was his woodworking during which time he enjoyed building clocks and Christmas decorations for the family yard.

Tom served in the United States Air Force beginning on 8 November 1961, serving posts across the country and abroad before coming to Patrick Air Force Base in 1972. While at PAFB, he was assigned to the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) where he was promoted to Master Sergeant on June 4, 1976 and served until his retirement from active duty on May 31, 1986. Throughout his military career he received multiple Air Force Commendation medals and graduated from the NCO Academy. He then entered into civilian work at PAFB for Johnson Controls until his final retirement in October 2002.

Tom is survived by two sons, Martin and wife Laura Clawson of Palm Bay, FL; Wayne and wife Andrea Clawson of Palm Bay, FL; five grandchildren, Jessica and husband Brandon Hinchman of Melbourne, FL; Ryan and wife Kate Clawson of Clermont, FL; Catlin Clawson of Melbourne, FL; Lacey and husband David Donald of Minneola, FL; and Alexandra Clawson of Melbourne, FL; two great-grandsons who were the stars of his brag photos, Mark Thomas and David Emmett; and countless longtime friends who cherished their fellowship with this great man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell (1972) and Dorothy (2009), his beautiful wife Ann (2001), his brother James A. Clawson (2004), and his loyal canine companions Rebel and King.

Friends will be received from 10 – Noon on Friday, February 7, at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne, FL. Services will be held at the same location beginning at Noon. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge with a military honors burial service.
