Thomas W. Bergin, Sr., 86, Melbourne, Florida, formerly of Mahopac, NY, passed away January 7, 2013. Tom was born 11/16/26 in Astoria, Queens. He was a WWII Veteran with the US Navy, serving as a Signal man on the U.S. S. Sperry. Tom served 27 years with the Town of Carmel Police Department, retiring as Detective Sergeant. He also served as Town of Carmel Supervisor for two terms. He was a member of the Mahopac Fire Department and was very active in the community serving on the Mahopac Central School board and was involved with the Boy Scouts. Predeceased by his wife Helen Woolley of Kent, NY, he is Survived by daughter, Susan Prezzano of Rhinebeck, NY, Thomas Bergin, Jr. of Satellite Beach, Florida, Michael Bergin of Port Saint Lucie, Florida and John Bergin of LaGrangeville, NY. He had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Tom never met a stranger. He will be remembered by his many friends in downtown Melbourne and the Melbourne V-Cop organization. His family welcomes friends to drop by the Fellowship Hall at the First Pentecostal Church Beachside, 501 Cinnamon Drive, Satellite Beach (Today) January 10, 2013 beginning at 4pm.
