Susan G Elliott

October 26, 1943 – December 23, 2017

Susan Gertrude Elliott, 74, of Melbourne, Florida, died Saturday, December 23 with her family at her side.

She was born to the late Edmund A. Mueller and Truce (Minthorn) Mueller on October 26, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan. Susan grew up in Detroit and Southfield, Michigan and attended school at Southfield High School. She married Robert Early Elliott at Peace Lutheran Church in Southfield, Michigan on April 20, 1963. They had been married for over 52 years at the time of his passing, in January of 2016.

Susan lived in the Detroit Metro area for many years and worked at Sears and later as an apartment manager before moving with family to New York in the early 1980s. She moved to Florida in the mid-80s before returning to Michigan in 1987, and stayed in the Great Lakes State for a few years until returning to Florida permanently in 1991 (with brief stints in Virginia and Georgia), ultimately settling in Brevard County for the last several years.

Throughout her life, Susan was employed in various positions in the service, hospitality, and retail industries. She was a frequent and generous donor to numerous charities dedicated to animal welfare, veterans, and children.

Susan is survived by her children, Pamela (Elliott McCarthy) Stevens of Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan and her grandson, Sean Michael Stevens; and Robert John Edmund Elliott and daughter-in-law Heather (Van Der Heyden) Elliott of Melbourne, Florida and her granddaughter, Ava Grace Elliott.

Susan's last wishes included a desire for no formal service, and all other final matters are being handled by Davis Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Melbourne, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out in Susan's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
