Shirley Jean (Biggins) Richards, 93, passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2026. She was born March 1, 1933, in Grand Rapids, Ohio, to Jewel Kathryn “Kate” Biggins and George Lawrence “Curly” Biggins.

Shirley spent most of her life in Melbourne, Florida, where she raised her family and created a home filled with love and lasting memories. She married the love of her life, Howard Edward Richards, in 1952. Their lifelong bond began in childhood when they met at the ages of 9 and 10 in Grand Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Richards; her son, James “Jim” Richards and daughter-in-law, Beverly Wade; her brother, Robert “Sonny” Biggins; and her daughter-in-law, Donna Kay Richards.

She is survived by her children, Steven (Colleen) Richards and Randy Richards, both of Florida; her grandchildren, Shannon (Ken) Christ, Melissa (Kris) Hepfinger, Jamie (Kim) Richards, Charlotte “Bri” Richards, and Daniel (Katie) Richards; and her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah Honan; Rhiannon, Rylan, and Brookson Hepfinger; Maverick and Riley Richards; and Chet Richards.

Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and found happiness in simple gatherings such as camping trips, cookouts, and family fish fries. She was known for her strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those she loved.

Her love and legacy will be cherished by all who knew her.

In accordance with her wishes, services will be held privately with family and invited guests. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later time.
