Shirley Ann Johnston, 88, went home to Heaven on Tuesday, August 4 with her husband, Dale Johnston by her side.
Shirley was born on March 20, 1927 in Herndon, Georgia. She was born into a large family as she was the youngest of 12 children. She established a profession with the company Digital and was one of the first employees to build keyboards. She retired from Digital and developed a love for many hobbies of which her favorite was crocheting and cross stitching. She also loved puzzles of all kinds, including Sudoku and cross word puzzles; as well as collecting Garfield figurines and anything that pictured a hummingbird.
She married her husband, Dale, on February 24 of 1989. They were happily married for 26 years. Together they traveled across the USA, stopping many times in Branson, which was a favorite city of Shirley's. Shirley also loved to visit Georgia and her family which still resides there. Family was always very important to Shirley and she had a very close relationship with her daughter, Pat, and son in law, Richard. They met for lunch every Saturday for many years. Shirley also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If there was a baby in her lap then you knew you would see a smile on Shirley's face.
Shirley will be missed very much by the family and friends she leaves behind. She had so many wonderful attributes and such a loving heart. It was always fun to watch her and her husband interact as they loved to tease each other and laugh. Shirley was a joy to be around and always had a smile and a kind word to offer. She was a woman of faith and her light shined brightly. It is comforting to know that even though she will be missed here on Earth her spirit now rests in heaven with her Lord and Saviour Jesus, and will forever.
Her family is currently planning a Celebration of Life to honor Shirley and the incredible woman she was. Everyone who knew Shirley is invited to attend, please check back for a date and time
