Shirley Irene (Pearl)
Bloom
October 8, 1932 – April 16, 2026
Shirley Irene (Pearl) Bloom passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Born on October 8, 1932, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Shirley was the daughter of the late Archie and Dorothy Jackson. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1950 and married the love of her life, the late Benjamin Bloom, in 1953. Together they built a life in Salem, New Hampshire, before relocating to Newton, New Hampshire in 2000, and later moving to Palm Bay, Florida in 2014.
Shirley was proud to be part of a three-generation legacy at her family’s beloved business, Jackson’s Bakery in Methuen, Massachusetts. The bakery was well known for its holiday pies, pastries, famous pork pies, and homemade meals, drawing long lines of loyal customers. After her time there, Shirley worked at Stop & Shop before dedicating herself to raising her three sons as a devoted stay-at-home mother. She later worked at Ken’s TV in Methuen and spent time working part-time with the Red Cross before retiring.
Shirley found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved RV trips and cruises with her husband and friends, as well as spending time doing puzzles, reading, and enjoying lunches and vacations with her close circle of friends. She deeply cherished her family’s annual summer vacations at her parents’ log home on East Grand Lake in Orient, Maine, holding those memories and photographs close to her heart. Shirley also delighted in hosting family cookouts at her Salem home, where her homemade side dishes and desserts were always a highlight.
She is survived by her loving sons, Bryan Bloom and his wife Lynda of Lancaster, New Hampshire, and Scott Bloom and his wife Christine of Fort Myers, Florida; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Gary Bloom.
Shirley will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and the joy she brought to those around her.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences and memories may be made to the family at www.davisseawinds.com.
