Sandra Starr Manning of Melbourne passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020. She was 78.
Sandy was born May 28, 1941 in Tiskilwa, IL. to Willard and Dorothy Starr. Due to her father's military career, she lived in several locations but was fortunate enough to graduate from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, HI. The family then transferred to Patrick Air Force base where she went to work as a secretary for RCA. There she met her future husband, Dick Manning.
Sandy volunteered at Harbor City Elementary where her children attended. She was a cub scout leader and the cookie chairwoman for the girl scouts in the 1970's. She served on the board of directors for Eau Gallie South Little League, District 2 Little League and the Florida State Little League. During her tenure in the late 1970's, girls softball was added to Little Leagues throughout the state of Florida.
As her children grew older, she returned to work in the title insurance industry and later retiring from Slug A Bug.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Linda Martin (Scott) of West Melbourne and son Richard Manning of Melbourne. Her grandchildren Kaley Lopez (Dennis) of Orlando, Kelsey Obarski (Tyler) of Orlando and Kyler Martin of Culver City, CA. Three great grandsons - Mason, Carter and Grant as well as her brother and sister in law Larry and Mary Starr of Melbourne and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Candlelighters of Brevard or Health First Hospice.
