Sammy Ann Gilliland, 86, passed away on Monday, December 2nd, 2024, entering an eternity of holy peace and profound joy.

Sammy was born on August 27th, 1938, to Max and Viola Griffin Vanderpool in Marion, Indiana. Sammy attended high school in Gas City and received an associate's degree from Ball State University. After raising her family in Hartford City, she continued to build her life in the Muncie area alongside her devoted husband of 45 years, P. Bruce Gilliland. A faithful Christian, Sammy was very involved in church and loved to worship every Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Muncie and Northside PCA in Melbourne, Florida.

Sammy enjoyed traveling, reading to children, listening to music and dancing with her husband. Together, they shared a beautiful life with their children and grandchildren, whom they cherished greatly.

She is survived by her loving husband P. Bruce Gilliland, Melbourne, Florida; brother Bruce (Terri) Vanderpool, Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter Kelly (Wayne) Dugal, Pataskala, Ohio; son Mike (Lisa) Fanning, Fort Wayne, Indiana; stepson Don Gilliland, Noblesville, Indiana; stepdaughter Cindy Hunt, Palm Bay, Florida; and stepdaughter Judith Gilliland, Fishers, Indiana. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sammy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Mike Vanderpool, son Greg Fanning, daughter-in-law Marilyn Gilliland, and great granddaughter Ashtyn Gilliland.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Indiana at a later date.
