Obituary

Rosario (Junior) S. Pace, 64, formerly of Manlius, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, in Melbourne Beach, Florida, after a brief illness and with his beloved wife, Kathy, at his side. Born in Staten Island, on June 25, 1950, he was the son of Rosario J. and Nancy Pace. A lifelong resident of Manlius, Rosario graduated Fayetteville-Manlius High School and worked at his family's Suburban Amusement Park. Rosario founded Johnny's Pizza in Manlius near the Swan Pond in 1966. In 1971 he moved Johnny's Pizza to Julian Plaza near the Syracuse University south campus. Rosario was an avid NY Yankee and SU sports fan and also a Corvette enthusiast. This past April after operating Johnny's Pizza at the current location for 43 years, Rosario retired to Melbourne Beach. Rosario was predeceased by his parents and his brother John. Rosario received an honorable discharge from the US Army Reserve in 1975. Surviving in addition to his wife Kathy (nee Edmonds); brother, Jerry; 4 nephews and a niece. A memorial service will be held on November 15 at the Burns Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, N.Y.
