Ronald E. Addis, 82, of Melbourne, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025.

He was born to the late Oakley and Jennie Mae Addis (Leslie) on December 4, 1942 in Oak Hill, Ohio.  Ronald graduated from Jackson High School in 1959 and received his Bachelor's Degree from University of Rio Grande with continued graduate studies at Marshall University.  He married Elizabeth L. Addis (Hamburger) in 1987, and they lived together in Chillicothe, Ohio before relocating to Melbourne, FL around 2000.

Ronald began his career as a teacher and then became a rehabilitation counselor at the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation where he managed a team helping Ohioans with disabilities find employment and independence.   After retiring, he often volunteered at Meals on Wheels, The Food Pantry and various other nonprofit organizations.

Ronald grew up on a farm being in the woods and hunting mushrooms.  He always maintained his love of nature, being outside and walking his dogs.  He was an avid reader and a loyal sports fan.  A mild mannered man, he was often described as kind, compassionate, caring and respectful.  He had a playful sense of humor and loved to kid around.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, two daughters and one stepson, Angie Fitzpatrick of San Diego, Ca, Carrie Grubbe of Powell, Oh, and Terry Mccoy of Bonifay, Fl.     He is also survived by three grandchildren, Sydney, Logan and Claire, his sister Rita Gould, five nieces and two previous wives, Nina Walden and Barb Johnson.   He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Oakley and sister Nita.

A celebration of life was held in Melbourne on March 10 and in Chillicothe on May 18.  Ronald was cremated and his remains will be sprinkled in the nature that he loved.
