IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger F
Sladek
December 4, 1945 – June 21, 2022
Roger F Sladek was born December 4 th , 1945, in Montgomery, Minnesota. One of four children handsomely crafted by George and Helen Sladek. Roger was a true outdoorsman, craftsman, herbalist, mycologist, and environmentalist.
Roger enjoyed the woods of Minnesota where he was born. Roger would spend days in the forest living off the land, foraging for edible plants, hunting deer with a bow and arrow, or catching fish using a weir. He believed that all individuals should respect and honor mother earth and its creatures. The water we are given to drink and the air you and I breath is a magical substance found no where else in the universe. Upon Rogers death, a donation of 275 trees was made to the Arbor Day Foundation. The trees are in Superior National Forest and Mississippi Alluvial Valley. Breath deep and enjoy the fresh air these trees provide, on your exhale remember Roger who no longer has such simple delight. Roger also contributed to Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants forever. He supported animals whose native habitat was being eliminated by modern development.
Roger enjoyed the forest and beaches in the state of Maine; so much so that he donated a commemorative bench in Ogunquit, Maine. The bench is dedicated to his marriage to his one and only true love Christine Sladek, their wedding date is inscribed upon the bench. The inscription cast in Amber resin and the bench crafted from local evergreen timber. This is the location where Roger will be waiting peacefully and happy to greet his jewel of forever. His wife and lover of 51 years Christine Sladek.
Roger leaves behind his wife Christine Sladek and his son Jonathan Sladek, who reside in Florida. Roger was proud of his son Jonathan. Roger and his son Jonathan shared an interest in philosophy, environmentalism, and social activism for all.
Consider supporting a cause or donating to a charity in Roger's name. This is how he would want to be honored.
