Obituary

Robert "Bob" Blom Wells, 93, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice Center in Rockledge, FL.

Bob was born on September 21, 1921 in Evanston, IL to the late Christine Blom and Lester Earl Wells.

Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jay Bravo Wells; son, Rob (Laura) Wells of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Sharon Bowman (Jerry) Appel of Los Angeles, CA; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Debra Nevers of Newton, NH and step-grandchildren, Derek Nevers, Rachel Nevers, Crystal (David) Snell, Jessie Woodward; step-great-grandson, Porter, as well as many in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn (Jeff) Randolph of Laguna Woods, CA and stepdaughter, Dawn Woodward of Grants Pass, OR.

Bob graduated from High School in 1938 (having excelled in math) and later graduated from Iowa State University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Upon graduation, Bob served in the Army Air Corps and became a decorated WWII Instructor Pilot. Bob had the distinction of never losing a pilot he had trained during the war. After his time in service to our nation, Stokley-Van Camp, Inc. employed Bob for 31 years. He served as Assistant General Sales Manager. After his retirement, Bob ventured into private enterprise to include an office building, a farm, gravel pit as well as contracting a subdivision.

Bob was a talented athlete. He enjoyed and excelled at golf, hockey, basketball and boxing. The Chicago American Newspaper recognized his golf skills for a record setting 285-yard hole-in-one at Mid-City, IL and his boxing ability for a first-round Technical Knockout. He also proved himself as a trusted golf consultant and found great joy in teaching his friends, and family, especially his son and grandson, Derek. In more recent years, Bob could be found with friends playing and winning at the poker table.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held June 26th at 10 am at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL. An online guestbook may be signed at www.davisseawinds.com.
