Robert John Smiley a resident of  Port St John passed away at St Francis Hospice center on 12/24 Christmas Eve He was born on November 13, 1940 in Detroit Michigan to John and Mary Smiley

He graduated from Lawrence Technology University in Industrial Management and was employed at Ford Motor Company in the Engineering department, Steel Division.  He is a veteran, Army National Guard during the Viet Nam era  He married Linda Papp who worked in the IBM installation at Ford Motor They were married 62 years and had 2 children Jason Robert and Shannon Lyn Jason passed at the age of 23 in 1993 with a 14 yr battle of brain cancer which left him legally blind.

Robert was always active in various organizations city government, church, lions, American Cancer, model train club, Florida Laryngectomy organization he organized state conferences for those people who had different kinds of throat cancer. The conferences were all well attended and very successful He also traveled with his family with a travel trailer visiting every state east of the Mississippi and some provinces of Canada

He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Shannon, granddaughter Bailey many cousins and dear friends He will be buried at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
