Robert E. McCarty passed to life eternal at the age of 81. The son of V.H. and Ethel McCarty, he was born and raised in a small community in west central Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Mary, his son Michael (Pati and Kathy) and his daughter Pamela (Bruce, Gail and Grant).
While retired from education for the past 20 years, he enjoyed sharing his love of flying a train of brightly colored stunt kites, beachcombing for widely travelled sea beans, rooting for his beloved Yankees, watching the deer "dance" under his apple trees, and working to preserve historic places while providing others opportunities to enjoy our natural resources. To many he was known as "The Kiteman"; to others he was the advocate for the 99%.
The family wishes to thank his doctors, Dr. Duhaime and Dr. Perry, along with their staffs for enabling him to enjoy the last three years of his life to the fullest.
The distribution of ashes will occur at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in his name to your favorite charity.
