Robert M. Jacques, 1934-2022 – A long-time Melbourne area resident, Bob was born and raised in Portland, Maine where he married Lucille "Lu" Provencal. He graduated from Southern Maine Technical College, after which he and Lu relocated to Galion, Ohio where Bob began his electrical engineering career at North Electric. There they had two daughters, Julie and Jeanine, before relocating to the Melbourne area in 1965, where he began a lifelong career with Harris Corporation. Bob and Lu divorced in the early 1980s. In 1983, he married Martha Blomquist, a loving union that lasted a short decade until her untimely death.
Bob was a deeply loving and consistently devoted father, spouse, friend and co-worker. He genuinely loved his family and always put family first with knowingly timed calls and visits, letters of praise and support, thoughtful gifts, and was the consummate host, even orchestrating a party in his final hours. He traveled extensively throughout the world with his career, was resilient in life, and always kept his sense of humor.
He is survived by his first wife Lucille Jacques; children Julie Jacques, Jeanine (Alan) Jacques Moore, Mary Ann Blomquist-Alukonis, and Walt (Anne) Blomquist; grandchildren Emma Alukonis and Kristoffer Blomquist; many nieces and nephews; and loving companion of 25 years Cleo DeWitt.
In recent years, Bob loved watching Buck Barefoot and his band with whom he developed a friendship.
In honor of Bob's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 4 th from 4:00-5:30pm at Squid Lips, 1477 Pineapple Ave, Melbourne, Florida. For those interested, Buck and his band will be playing there later that evening from 5:30-8:30pm.
