Robert Elliott, 74, passed away on September 13, 2015 with his wife by his side.
Robert was born on a wintery day in January 1941 in Washington, OK to Leonard and Winnie Elliott. He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Purcell, OK. After a short term in the U.S. Army, he went to flight school, graduating with a Commercial Pilot's license with the goal of being an airline pilot. However, because of the time involved in order to make a living in that field, he instead became an agricultural aviation pilot, owning and operating his own airplane. Before going in business for himself, he built his flight time up as a hired pilot spraying crops in Texas, Kansas, and Washington State. Eventually, he settled in a small farming community in New Mexico where he sprayed various crops there including, the famous Chilies that are so popular in preparing Mexican cuisine.
In 1984, Robert sold his spraying business and went full time into the trucking business. That same year, he married Roseanne, a business acquaintance, and they became partners in all endeavors for life. Robert taught Roseanne how to drive a "big rig" and they ran as a team for 21 wonderful years. Then she stayed at home to keep the books for their business while Robert ran as a single driver until he retired in 2012. He sold his equipment to a driver in a neighboring town and took that long deserved vacation and rest for his years of hard work. That drew to close his "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses" chapter in his life which was always nothing short of exciting. He and his wife then enjoed just being at home reminiscing over all the wonderful years they had together as friends, sweethearts and workmates all tied up in a beautiful marriage.
Robert is survived by his brother, Leon Elliott of Checotah, OK along with his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Siblings who preceded Robert in death were his sister, Bernice McLellan; brother, Curtis Elliott; and his adopted daughter Chris Elliott.
A memorial service for Robert will ne held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1900 Trimble Road, Melbourne, FL 32934. Date and Time will be posted on this website when finalized.
