Robert W. Dalzell, Jr.
West Melbourne
Robert W. ("Bob") Dalzell, Jr. of W. Melbourne, Florida passed away on December 8, 2012. Born in Montclair NJ on June 9, 1929, Bob lived most of his life in Manalapan, NJ where he and his loving wife of 60 years, Regina ("Jean"), raised nine children. He had a successful career as a sales professional before retiring to Florida in 1999. Bob served in the US Army and was honorably discharged as a 1St Lt. in 1953. He was a founding member of the Gordons Corner Fire Company, a volunteer company started in 1962 that even today uses the cartoon logo that he sketched out on his kitchen table. When his children were young he was involved in their many activities, always putting them ahead of all else. As we became teenagers, he was always one step ahead of us and we were never as smart as we thought. But at the same time, he was always behind us and supportive in anything we needed. Bob was beloved by many for his dedication to family, his sharp sense of humor, and a huge heart that in the end could no longer keep him with us. In addition to his wife Jean, Bob is survived by his sisters Joan Trecartin and her husband John of Montville NJ; and Dianne Cahill of Mansfield TX. He will be missed dearly by his nine loving children: daughter Tracy Scavone of Cornelius NC; son Robbie and his wife Christine of Falmouth ME; son Christopher of Brick NJ; daughter Diane Weiss and her husband Steve of Front Royal VA; Tom and his wife Krystyna of Manalapan NJ; Jeannette Shevlino and her husband Jim of Massilon OH; son Steven of Goffstown NH; daughter Kate of Milford NJ; and son John of Ft Lauderdale FL. His grandchildren are Krista, Jason, Evan, Jeff, Parker, Sadie, Christopher, Jamie, Mark, Scott, Kaylin, Jordan, Thomas, Amanda, Erik, Frankie, Michael, Stacey, Jessyca and Derek. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation or services in Florida. Inurnment and services will take place at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Chesterfield Arneytown Rd., Wrightstown, New Jersey 08562. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory be offered to Autism Speaks at www.autisimspeaks.org. Arrangements are being made by Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne FL (321)-254-1532.
