Robert was born on May 16, 1937, in Miami, Florida. He joined his wife of 40 years, Laurrie Buckley (Weimer) on December 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father James J. Buckley, mother Mary Ruth Buckley (Duggan), brother James Buckley, and sister Martha Reilly (Buckley). He is survived by his daughter Nannette Long (Buckley), son in law Donald Long, and two grandchildren Brandon and Melissa Long.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy at the age of seventeen and was a Korean Veteran. He obtained a BSEE from the University of Miami School of Engineering.

He started his work for NASA in the space program at Kennedy Space Center in 1962. Bob was the Director of the NASA – Air Force Management/Support Office when he retired in 1994. He worked for the space program for 32 years.

A Committal Service with military honors will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, FL 32754, on January 10, 2025 at 9 AM.
