Richard E. "Dicky" Weaver, 61, of Melbourne, FL passed away on January 8, 2015, at Health First Hospital. He was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Terre Haute, IN to Fred and Irene Weaver of North Terre Haute and was among the first to attend the Beacon School of the Valley, the Wabash Valley's 1st school for mentally handicapped children during the late 50's. Dicky was preceded in death by his retired Melbourne, Fl parents in 1996 and 1998, and a half-sister, Cheryl Anne (Reynolds) Lively of Terre Haute/Newburgh, IN in 2002.

During the mid-60's while residing in Newburgh, IN, Dicky attended one of the first public education "specialized schools" @ Yankeetown Elementary and later was employed with SIRS in Boonville, IN, where he looked forward to the daily work and comradery with his fellow handicapped friends of Warrick County. Dicky was an avid Evansville Triplet Pro Baseball fan, as he consumed his Summer night's listening to WGBF radio's Marv Bates broadcast of the Triplet's games. The memories of the 1972 Milwaukee AAA squad w/ Bob Collucio, Bobby Mitchell, Bob Hansen, Pepe Frias, Pedro Garcia, Darrell Porter, Bruce Brubaker, et al brought wide smiles to Dicky's face over the decades while rehashing the ol' days. Dicky also enjoyed movies and "scrapbooking" alongside Lori and her Melbourne Village chums, not to forget his "special visits" to Busch Gardens in Tampa and Disney World in Orlando with Robert Weaver & family.

During the 80's, Dicky lived in an ARC group home in Rockledge, FL, where he also participated in Special Olympics Bowling and was employed in the ARC sheltered workshop. Again, these experiences added meaningfulness and spice to Dicky's life.

The past few years Dicky resided at Carnegie Gardens Nursing Center in Melbourne, FL, where he participated in various in-house sponsored activities and found the Lord Jesus Christ. Special thanks to "Sam" at Carnegie Gardens for providing countless hours of enjoyment-filled life experiences. Carnegie Gardens treated Dicky well over the years and should be commended for their heartfelt dedication while providing quality care while addressing his special needs.

Dicky is survived by three (3) brothers (Fred Jr. of Terre Haute, IN, Garry of Jasper, IN and Robert of Boonville, IN), two sisters (Pam Scales of Boonville, IN and Lori Rattay of Palm Bay, FL) and several nephews, nieces, cousins and half-sisters located in Indiana and Florida.

Donations in memory of Dicky can be made to Boonville, IN SIRS and/or ARC of Brevard, FL.
Cremation is scheduled in Sebastian, FL with burial at Roselawn Cemetery in North Terre Haute, IN.
