Richard Nelville Hall II passed away on July 4th, 2012, at his home in Grant, Florida. His wife and two of his children were at his bedside and had just said prayers to God moments before his passing.

Born in Paris, France, Richard moved with his family to the United States at six years old; they settled in Morristown, New Jersey. A track star at Phillips Exeter Academy from which he graduated in 1943, his record for the mile stood for better than 20 years.

Graduating from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, in 1948, Mr. Hall, Dick to his friends, served in Korea before his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1954.

Returning home to the private sector first at McMillan & Bloedel Lumber Company of Vancouver, BC, Canada, as an executive in training he had a long career in sales, making use of his engineering degree with American Standard in New York City and Power Packer in Butler, Wisconsin. He provided well for his family in the comfort of home as well as the love of father and husband. Once his children were established outside their home, Dick and his wife Pat moved to Florida to start anew. Beginning as an apprentice at Chris Craft Boatyard in Pompano Beach, he became a Master Craftsman in less than a year. Some time after that he was made a manager, which was not to his liking. He left Chris Craft for Lantana Boatyards in Boynton Beach to continue his love of working with his hands, building things to be proud of, and knowing a job well done.

Upon retirement Dick and Pat moved to Grant, Florida and built a home in which they have lived and become part of the community, enjoying the Seafood Festival and gentle breezes in their Cedar Cottage home.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Pat, his sister Helen, his three children, Kathryn, Ashley and Rich, his grandchildren, John, Erin and Courtney.
