Richard F. "Dick" McGinnis passed away peacefully in Melbourne, Florida on June 7, 2019 at the age of 84, surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born in Boston, MA to George and Mary McGinnis in 1934. He was preceded in death by his brothers George and Robert McGinnis. Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary, sons Richard and his wife Judi, of Wakefield, MA, James and his wife Kathy, of Crossville, TN, daughters Donna Davis and her husband Greg, of Corona, CA, Patricia Moxam and her husband Roy, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Gail McGinnis and her partner Jean Foster, of West Melbourne, FL, nine grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, his sister Genevieve Matthews from Kingston, NH, and many nieces and nephews.

Dick enjoyed his childhood in Medford, MA, graduating from Medford High School in 1953. He served in the Army during the Korean War, was a past member of the VFW, and was a proud American.  After completing his service, he married the love of his life Mary (Powers) in 1956. They had a long and loving marriage. Dick and Mary made their life in Malden MA, raising their 5 children before moving to South Weymouth, MA. After retiring from the Draper Laboratories in Cambridge, MA, they moved to Florida and settled in the Arrowood Community in West Melbourne. Lovingly dubbed the "Mayor of Arrowood," he was very active in his community, participating in many roles and holding the office of President of the Homeowners Association, winning numerous league shuffleboard trophies, playing cards with friends and rarely missing the weekly Bingo game at the clubhouse.

Dick and Mary enjoyed many travels over the years.  They cruised the Caribbean, Alaska, and through the Panama Canal.  They loved to visit family in California, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Maine. They vacationed with their children to Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, and Ireland.

Dick was quick with a smile and a laugh and would offer his help without hesitation expecting nothing in return. He was a generous, loving man who touched many lives and enjoyed a life well lived. He will be forever missed.

The family will hold a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 1626 Oak Street Melbourne, FL on July 20 at 11:00 AM.
