René Joseph Croteau, 90, of Melbourne, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2021. It was a peaceful passing in the hospital, with a nurse at his side.

René was born to the late Philemon and Fleurette Croteau on July 14, 1930, in Jackson Heights, New York. After moving to Florida with his family, he was admitted to the University of Florida School of Pharmacy. After a short time, the Korean War interrupted his studies. He left school to serve his country in Germany, teaching English. After 4 years of military service, he was discharged and returned to the University of Florida School of Pharmacy, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He never forgot his love of the University of Florida and made many trips to see the Gators play in the Swamp.

René worked as a pharmacist for more than 50 years. His last position was with Five Points Pharmacy of Cocoa, Florida. He gave his all to his profession, and he loved going to work.

René married Betty Lewis in 1978. They lived in Hialeah, Florida for 26 years before moving to Melbourne, Florida, 2003. They were married for 43 years. Betty soon followed René's death, and passed away a month later, on July 8, 2021.

René was an active member of Ascension Catholic Church. He faithfully attended mass once a week. Every Tuesday at 7am, for many years, he met with a prayer partner at the church, where they would pray for an hour.

René is survived by his daughters, Colette (Frabrizzio) Perez of Miami; Lisa Croteau Grosswald of Orlando; Valerie Lamon of Hialeah; and his son Marc Croteau of Jupiter. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Alexandra Grosswald; Cole Grosswald; Ashley Lamon; and Brittany Pirozzi. He is also survived by 1 great-granddaughter, Annabelle Lamon.

Along with Betty, they were richly blessed with 7 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren between them.

A Memorial Service will be held for Rene and Betty on March 18, 2022, at 11 am, at Harbor City Baptist Church, 2711 North Harbor City Blvd, Melbourne, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Renè's name to Ascension Catholic Church, 2950 North Harbor City Boulevard, Melbourne, FL, 32935.

Internment will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, Florida.
