Obituary

REGINA B. CARBONARA

A devoted mother and grandmother, Regina Kathleen Bergin Carbonara passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 23, 2013, in Melbourne.

The youngest of five children, Regina was born on Aug. 23, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY. Her parents, Mary and Martin Bergin, both hailed from Ireland. A graduate of Mount St. Vincent College, Regina married Dr. Francis Carbonara in 1955, and together they had five children. Regina is preceded in death by her husband, her brother, Martin, and sister, Bernadette.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Harnett O'Leary and Jo Gilhooley, and her children, Mary Jean Sumell, Kathleen Carbonara and husband, John VerBockel, Patty Goffinet and husband, Tom, John Carbonara and wife, Joan, and Joan Park and husband, Bryant. Regina is also survived by 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Regina was very active in her community and church, and she loved to travel, sew and read.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School scholarship fund. 420 East Fee Avenue, Melbourne, Fl. 32901.

A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne on Fri., Jan. 3 at 1 p.m.
