Obituary

Ray H. Ostman, 77, of Melbourne, passed away on Sunday, Feb 12 at Holmes Regional Hospital.

Ray was born in Rockaway, Queens, New York on May 25, 1939. He was one of seven children born to Ovia and Ruth Ostman. After high school, he joined the Navy in 1956 as a Draftsman and traveled the world for 20 years before retiring in 1976. After retiring, he never lost the love to travel. He lived in many states in the United States and several countries throughout the world.

Ray was well loved, admired and respected as a husband, dad, brother, uncle, friend and co-worker by many. He was very active with Little League Baseball throughout his life. He loved playing Santa Claus at Christmas time to raise food for various food banks. Recently though, he was active in his community and the American Legion calling Bingo, something he really enjoyed doing.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ovia and Ruth of New York and Florida; his brothers, Robert (Bob) of Maryland; Richard (Dick) of Florida; and Russell (Russ) of New York; along with several nephews, niece and great-nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Marti of Florida; brother, Ron of California; sisters, Irma and Ruthann (Bob) of Florida; and sister-in-laws, Joan of Florida and Shirley of New York.

He is also survived by his daughter, Star of Wisconsin; son, Chris (Kim) of Georgia; four grandchildren CJ, Allister, Griffin, Rayia; one great-grandchild, Kahli; and many nieces and nephews.

Ray wished to be cremated and place at rest in Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Scottsmoor, Fla.
