Pura C. Pino, 83, departed this life and joined her Heavenly Father on September 24, 2014. She was born on December 8, 1930 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, to the late Pedro Ortiz Torres and Concepcion Gonzalez Irizarry. Pura was the 2nd eldest child of seven. Her family relocated to Bronx, NY where she was raised. During her adolescents, she cared for her younger siblings and taught them the importance of a strong family unit. Pura matured into a wonderful and loving mother, seamstress and cook. She enjoyed genealogy and would be considered the family historian. In 1960, she moved to Miami, where she retired as a distribution manager from a beverage industry. Pura mostly appreciated time with her loved ones, dancing, laughing, traveling and socializing. She has been a resident of Brevard County for 17 years coming from Miami. She will be remembered for being a social butterfly that leaves a legacy of good times. Memories will be cherished by her daughter, Yvonne R. Mari; brother, Peter Ortiz (Sylvia); sister, Clara Ortiz Sonnenberg (Jack); niece, nephews and her precious canine companion, Betty Boop. Pura was predeceased by her 1st husband, Robert Contreras and 2nd husband Gonzalo Pino. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne with a Celebration of Pura's life to follow at 2 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, 560, Montreal Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32935.
