Phyllis S. Zippi, 87, passed away on March 11, in her home in Melbourne, Florida peacefully surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born on May 10, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA to Julia and John Santilli. She was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School, and afterward she attended the University of Pennsylvania. She worked in the offices of American Stores, then Richard B Herman's Real Estate Office in Philadelphia. One night while playing hooky from college, Phyllis attended a Snow Dance in West Philadelphia and met the love of her life, Carl Robert Zippi. Phyllis and Carl married on November 7, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA. They raised four children and were married for 45 years. Carl passed away in June of 1998. Phyllis had an upbeat, positive outlook on life, she was a strong woman and always maintained a full schedule. Phyllis had a big heart, a great sense of humor and endless energy. Phyllis during her lifetime was active in the Woman's Club in Springfield, PA, volunteered at her children's schools, owned Caryn Hallmark Store in Delray Beach, managed the books at Saver's Drug Mart, , which she co-owned with Carl. Phyllis participated in as many activities as time allowed including sewing, bridge, bunko, and golf. Phyllis enjoyed attending her children's, then grandchildren's, sporting events. She was often seen on the bleachers or swim team sidelines cheering them on or hosting team parties.
Phyllis is survived by her four children, Philip Zippi and Debbie Kimbrel of Plant City, FL, Carol and Robert Richardson of Houston, TX, Karen Zippi Edwards and Gary Nacht of Boca Raton, FL, and Carl Zippi of Melbourne, FL. Phyllis loved her 8 grandchildren with all her heart: Alex Zippi, Tedd and Bobbie Richardson, Blaire and Morgan Edwards and Blake, Luke and Zachary Zippi.
A viewing will be held at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne on the sixteenth of March at 11:15am followed by a mass at 12:00pm. Entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Ascension Catholic Church in memory of Phyllis Zippi.
