IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis
Eyerkuss
September 16, 1941 – July 12, 2023
Phyllis Eyerkuss, 81, of West Melbourne Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 12, 2023. Psalm 116:15 says "The death of His faithful ones is valuable in the Lord's sight." Phyllis was born September 16, 1941, in Passaic, NJ. As the daughter of the late Kay and Albert Koslow (Cantor), Passaic, NJ, Phyllis was married to the late Leslie Eyerkuss of Belleville, NJ. They lived in East Hanover, NJ before relocating to Melbourne Beach, Florida in 1995.
Phyllis worked many years for both Montclair Community Hospital in Montclair NJ and the Kessler Institute of Rehabilitation in West Orange, NJ. After she retired, Phyllis and Les moved to Melbourne Beach, Florida. She called Calvary Chapel Melbourne her home church. Phyllis' true love was serving in a variety of Calvary Chapel's ministry: With a passionate faith and serving heart, Phyllis taught women's Bible studies for over 20 years, along with providing spiritual and biblical counseling to many young women in the church. Phyllis traveled with the Prison Ministry team across the state to regularly take the love of Jesus Christ to a lonely, hope- starved community of female inmates. When her health didn't allow her to continue traveling to Florida prisons, Phyllis became a Prison Ministry pen pal, faithfully writing to encourage and share Jesus with the girls. She also opened her home to "God-sip" across the kitchen table with fellow Sisters-in-Christ. Phyllis faithfully lived out her love for Jesus Christ until her faith became sight.
Phyllis is survived by her children Steven Eyerkuss and his wife Crystal of Emerson NJ; Elise Fletcher and her husband Mike of Hardyston NJ, as well as 4 grandchildren Sarah Totten and her husband Justin, Christian Fletcher and his wife Amanda, Deanna Scheideler and her husband Louis, Matthew Eyerkuss and his wife Najah, a great grandson Jacob Totten and a soon to be great granddaughter Ella May Scheideler. Phyllis was loved by other relatives and many friends in both New Jersey and Florida.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 4, 2023 (11:00am ET) at Calvary Chapel Melbourne Florida in the church's chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Calvary Chapel Melbourne's Prison Ministry program.
