Peitress Hammond, 87, resident of Indialantic, Florida, formerly of Babylon, New York, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012. She was known as "Peite" by her friends and family.
Peite worked in Public Relations for Macy's and later became a real estate agent in the Huntington area before moving to Florida with her late husband, Charles Hammond. In Florida, she started Peite's Pantry where she collected and distributed food for the needy. She was very active in her local church, Eastminster Presbyterian.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 6 children, Edwin Horsley, Wayne Horsley, Scott Horsley, Peitress Powers, Keely Harris, and Kelly Matera, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date to be held on Long Island for our most loving mother.
