PAUL ROBERT NUGNES (1938 – 2018)

Beloved husband and father Paul passed at age 79, on September 27, 2018, surrounded by sons Matt and Todd and wife Deborah, in Melbourne Florida.  Paul was born in Marlborough, Mass, grew up in Centerville, Cape Cod and attended Barnstable High School, graduating in 1957 when he joined the Marine Corps.  He was honorably discharged in 1962 after serving several tours overseas, including American Embassy assignments in Manila, Philippines, and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as part of their Marine Security Guard Detachments.  His travel bug led to a 34 year career with the US Department of State.  He served in Taiwan, Ivory Coast, Moscow, Paris, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Kenya, Washington D.C, Manila and Bangkok, latterly as a Regional Director for Communications, where much of SE Asia and the Pacific was his avidly explored stomping ground.  After retirement, Paul and Deborah moved to Melbourne Florida to 'be near the kids'.  There he renovated a beachy house with a kitchen that allowed his culinary star to shine.  As avid members of the international running group Hash House Harriers (a drinking club with a running problem), he and Deb (AKA Kojak and Lollipop) continued to travel to Hash events around the world.  He will be sadly missed, but as a hasher, he will be On On Forever.  In addition to Deb, Matt and Todd, Paul is survived by brothers Phillip (wife Bonnie) and Jack (wife Cathy), who he thanks for assuring that the Nugnes family name  is being carried on.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Paul's name to the William Holden Wildlife Foundation ( http://www.whwf.org ).  Paul will be interred with full military honors at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Thursday October 25, 2018 at 10 am. A celebration of life will follow at Davis Seawinds Funeral Home 560 Montreal Ave, Melbourne, Fl at 2 PM
