Obituary

Paul David Egleston was born on February 14, 1936 in Holdenville, Oklahoma and he passed away on February 21, 2023 in Melbourne, Florida at the age of 87. He retired from the city of Kissimmee in 1999, where he was the director of water and sewer services since 1973. After retirement, Paul enjoyed time with his family, and often spent time fishing, camping, travelling, and entertaining. Paul has been an active member of the Christian faith for many years and was an active member of the Prince of Peace Church in Viera. He loved studying the Bible and teaching, so he started a Bible study group in 1992 while living in St. Cloud. After moving to Melbourne in 2010, Paul initiated a Bible study group with new friends from the area. He and his wife, Micki have enjoyed meeting so many people over the years, many of whom have become life-long friends. Time engaging in activities involving his faith, family, and friends brought Paul much joy!

Paul and Micki met during a microwave cooking class offered in Kissimmee in 1978. Paul was divorced at the time and signed up for the class with the idea that it would be a good place to meet lots of women. All of the women in the class loved Paul because he was a handsome gentleman and the only male in the class. Paul had always thought that he would like to marry a red-head and was intrigued by Micki with her red hair. Paul and Micki often smiled and waved at each other during the class. One day Micki happened to go to a city of Kissimmee board meeting and saw Paul there. Fate had brought them together again. Paul asked Micki out for coffee, she accepted, and the rest is history. Paul and Micki fell in love and blended their families in marriage on November 14, 1980.

Paul loved to watch his favorite tv shows, "America's Funniest Videos" and "The Lawrence Welk Show". His hobbies were making bird houses out of wood and walking canes from old Christmas tree trunks and hardwood. Paul also loved to tell stories and jokes, and fool children with big words. For example, he might tell one of the kids in the family that they were covered with "garments" or that he could see their "epidermis". Grandchildren brought a whole new level of joy for him. Paul was always friendly, happy, and never had a temper. The thing that made him the happiest of all was being with his family and he especially enjoyed cooking for them. His famous macaroni and cheese dish was always requested
at every event.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene (Micki) Theresa Egleston, three daughters and two sons; Kelly Mungall of St. Cloud, FL, Becky (Steve) Porter of Charlotte, North Carolina, James McKeown of Nashville, Tennessee, Donna (Lamar) Chisholm of St. Cloud, Florida, and Troy Killgore. He is predeceased by one daughter, Renee Killgore.

He is also survived by six grandchildren Braxton (Brittany) Chisholm, Bailey Chisholm, Olivia McKeown, Katie Mungall, Kylie Porter and Brooks Wade. To his surprise, one great grandson, Brayton Chisholm. He is also survived by two nieces, Teresa Humphrey of Moore, Oklahoma and Kendra (Brian) Findley of Springfield, Missouri.
