NORMAN G. MEASEL, JR., fondly known as "Norm" of Barefoot Bay, passed through the gates of heaven on Thursday, June 10th, after a lengthy illness.
Norm was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 14, 1931. He enlisted in the United States Air Force working as a Surgical Technician and also a Cook. Upon discharge he lived with his family in Detroit for many years working as a meat cutter and supervisor of Chatham Super Markets.
In 1987, he moved to Barefoot Bay with his wife Leona. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman George Measel and Leona Weber. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 66 years, Leona Theresa Masse Measel, his brother, Thomas Fred Measel (Constance), his son, Ricky Measel ( Deborah), and son, Terry Measel. Also, survived by his granddaughter, Krystle (Chris) Drake, and great grandchildren, Kendall Drake, Kinley Drake, Caden Drake and Collen Drake. He is also survived by several nieces.
Norm was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Detroit. He enjoyed a good game of golf and socializing at the 19th Hole and his enthusiasm will be greatly missed. He enjoyed good food and friends. Norm was a great story teller with a loving heart.
At Norman's request, there will be no visitation. Memorial service to be held at convenience of family. Norman will be interred at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Mount Clemens, Michigan at a later date.
