Nancy Borden Deneen, 81, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 19, 2014. Born on March 9, 1933 in Akron, OH, she was the beloved child of the late Karl and Ruth Palmquist-Borden. Nancy was a graduate of Allegheny College, PA and pursued a career in education. She was an educator for Greenwich Public Schools and the Stamford Public Schools in Connecticut. Out of her many academic accomplishments, she was most proud of implementing the Unwed Mother's Education Program in the Stamford, CT school district, which was targeted towards educating teenage mothers.
Nancy retired to Brevard County, FL in 1996 coming from Greenwich, CT, where she appreciated the warmer climate and being closer to her family. In her leisure, she enjoyed golfing, attending sporting events and traveling the world. She was an active member of the Hope Episcopal Church in Melbourne and Mallards Landing Women's Golf Group. Nancy will be remembered by many as a wonderful and caring tutor that exemplified the importance of a strong education. She leaves memories to be cherished by her husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Deneen; sons, Thomas B. and David M. Deneen; granddaughters, Morgan and Shelby Deneen; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Robert Borden. A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, June 27th at the Hope Episcopal Church, 190 Interlachen Rd., Melbourne, FL 32940.
