IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Nancy Patricia Callahan Demers passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2026, surrounded by the loving care of her children.
Nancy was born on November 5, 1935, in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She attended elementary school in Attleboro and graduated from Saint Xavier High School in Providence, Rhode Island. She began her professional life as an executive secretary at the Robbins Company. She met a young sailor, William “Bill” Demers and the two were married on July 3, 1954, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in love, faith, and family.
Nancy and Bill raised their family first in Attleboro, then in East Providence, Rhode Island, before moving to New Hampshire. Among Nancy’s most cherished memories were those spent at a farmhouse in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, where family life flourished.
Nancy’s greatest pride was being the mother of twelve children, raising them with a deep belief in the dignity of all people. Yet her accomplishments extended far beyond her role as a mother. After the birth of her youngest child, Nancy returned to school to pursue nursing, earning her certification as a registered nurse. She found her calling as a labor and delivery nurse, a role that beautifully reflected her own experiences as a mother. Through dedication and leadership, she advanced to become Director of Nursing at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island, where she was proud to contribute to the development of the new hospital. Despite her success in administration, Nancy ultimately chose to return to bedside nursing, where her compassion and care could be most directly felt.
She enjoyed being with people, celebrating life with laughter and memories. Throughout her life, Nancy also participated in many activities celebrating her faith, friends, and Irish Heritage…. Too many to count. She was a fierce advocate for human dignity and human life. She instilled in her children a sense of responsibility to care for others with compassion and respect. She remained a strong voice for women’s rights, civil rights, the right to life, and support for homeless families.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William K. Demers, and her sons, Padrig Timothy Demers and Robert William Demers.
She is survived by her children: Michael Joseph Demers, Cheryl Anne Demers-Holton, James Francis Demers, Sarah Elizabeth (Demers) Lussier, Danielle Marie (Demers) Bourgette, Nancy Rose Demers, Jennifer Jeanne Demers, Maureen Siobhan Demers, William Kenneth Demers Jr., and Mary-Kathleen (Demers) Gander, along with their spouses. Her remarkable legacy continues through her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-greatgrandchildren, and even great-great-great-grandchildren—numbering more than one hundred.
Nancy’s final wish for those she loved was simple and enduring: remember your manners, be kind, and care for one another. As she often said, “Don’t forget that God is always with you—keep Him in your heart. Remember that love brought you into this world; keep it going with each other.”
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, faith, compassion, and unwavering love for God and her family.
Nancy’s funeral Mass will be celebrated o Friday, April 17th at 11:00am at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida. Interment will follow later in Cape Cod Massachusetts where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Bill.
In lieu of flowers please support Nancy’s enthusiastic advocacy for homeless families with a donation to Family Promise of Brevard, to go directly to housing and job/ career support.
