Nadyne Jeronya Flack Knowles of Melbourne Florida passed away on October 13, 2020 with her beloved husband at her side. Nadyne was 76 years of age. She was born on November 4, 1943 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC to parents Johnnie Mae Hall Flack and Sgt. Lawrence E. Flack. After her father was killed in action in Korea, Nadyne's childhood was divided between living with her mother in Washington DC and her grandmother Pennie Hall in Durham North Carolina. Nadyne graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in 1961. Shortly thereafter she married and had her two children Veronica C. Stevens and Lawrence E. Stevens.
Nadyne returned to college in the 1980's and received her bachelor's of science degree in public administration in 1985. In 1990 she started a travel agency in Waldorf Maryland with her family. She sold the agency in 1998.
Nadyne relocated to Nassau Bahamas in 1998 with her husband, Llewelyn A. Knowles. She became a manager of six tourist shops in Nassau, Paradise Island and Abacos. She eventually became the assistant principal and owner a of private school.
In addition to owning businesses, Nadyne was an author. She wrote her novel while living on Long Island, Bahamas after her retirement. Her novel, Okra's Child, was published in 2012.
After becoming ill, she moved to Melbourne Florida where she was well loved by her neighbors and church family. She was a bright addition to the dialysis center that she attended three days a week for many years.
Nadyne is survived by her husband, Llewelyn A. Knowles, and children Veronica C. Stevens and Lawrence E. Stevens all of Melbourne Florida. Her grandsons Logan G Kline and Ethan G. Kline of Melbourne predeceased her. She is also survived by her Aunt Edith Harris of Waldorf Maryland along with many loving cousins, classmates and friends.
Nadyne's Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church of South Brevard, located at 4300 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32935, on October 24th at 11 am. All attending are requested to wear masks and adhere to social distancing. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting contributions to the National Kidney Foundation.
