Obituary

Myron C Cross Jr passed away peacefully on May 20, 2018.   He was preceded in death by his parents Myron Sr and Edith Cross. Myron was born August 14, 1933 in Butler, PA in his Grandma's house and spent his early years in Pittsburgh, PA.  He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and he ran track.  He graduated from Penn Township High School in 1951.  That is where he met the love of his life, Louise.  Him and Louise married in 1954.  They had their first daughter, Debbie, in 1955.  In 1959, they had another daughter, Rae, and they left Pittsburgh to go to the Midwest – Rapid City, South Dakota first and then Wichita, Kansas which is where they had their son, Skip. Myron worked on the missile silos in Tucson, Arizona; Cheyenne, Wyoming and Little Rock, Arkansas.  He brought his family to Brevard County in 1963 to pursue a career at Cape Canaveral as a Quality Control Inspector on the Titan III, Gemini and Apollo Missions.  Myron was on the team that loaded the propellant into the lunar module that landed on the moon.  Myron and Louise hob-nobbed with the likes of Alan Shepard, Buzz Aldrin, Neil Armstrong and Gus Grissom, while he was employed at the Cape.

After Myron left the Cape, he pursued a second career in the building industry by first joining the Carpenters Union and working on such projects as the Hutchinson Island Power Plant in Fort Pierce and the Indian River Memorial Hospital.  He then formed his own carpentry sub-contractor company working on townhouses, single family homes, restaurants, and other commercial buildings.  After that he went to work with various building corporations as a General Superintendent.  He worked up until his forced retirement in 2007 due to bladder cancer.

Myron had many interests he was passionate about cave exploring, leather tooling, boating, water skiing (including barefoot skiing), motorcycling, archery, scuba diving, horse riding, camping.  Myron loved and adored his wife, Louise.  All of the interests he had they shared.  They had many, many animals in their lifetime; exotic birds, fish, horses, cats, dogs, and a monkey.  They raised cows, chickens, pigs, hybrid wolves and Great Danes. Their passion later in life was the raising and showing of their English Mastiffs.

They went on several cruises.  On their 50 th wedding anniversary their children gave them a surprise vow renewal party (which was the only time he ever danced) and sent them on a trip to Costa Rica.  Then on their 55 th wedding anniversary, their children sent them on an interior cruise in Alaska.  They were really a true love story, being married for 64 years.

Myron is survived by his wife, Louise Cross, his children Debbie Cross and her companion, Todd Burdette of Fellsmere; Myron III (Skip) Cross of Palm Bay and Rae Cross and her companion, Phil Smith of Sebastian; his God Daughter, Trude Hull and her husband, Fred.  He is also survived by his grandsons Camyron Cross and David Cross and granddaughter Brianna Cross.
