IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Murray W.
Boggs Jr.
January 27, 1930 – July 14, 2023
Murray W. Boggs Jr. (93) passed away peacefully on July 14th, 2023 at the William Childs Hospice house.
Murray was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered by his family and friends for his compassionate and fun loving spirit. His passion for life was evident in all that he did - from excelling at all sports (football, basketball, baseball, tennis and golf) to spending time with his friends and family - he frequently shared helpful advice with those around him. He was also an active member of his community, always eager to lend a helping hand. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched through his kind actions and generous spirit.
Murray W. Boggs Jr. was born just outside of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on January 27th, 1930. He remained in Ben Avon PA all thru school where he excelled academically and athletically.
"Mike" entered the Coast Guard Academy in July of 1948 and continued his excellence in athletics by being a star on the football field where he played both running back and on the defensive line, being the center and forward on the basketball team as well as being the shortstop on the baseball team. The Coast Guard football team had their first undefeated season in 1951 and "Mike" was a part of that special group. In 2002 he was installed into the Hall of Fame at the Coast Guard Academy for both football and basketball. After the Coast Guard he entered the private sector where he was in Business Development and Marketing for various technical and defense contractors.
Murray is survived by his daughter, Katie (Cary), brother Richard Boggs (Susie), grandchildren, Jackson, Kevin, Chelsea (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Camdyn and Olivia; nephew, Steven Price; nieces, Becky DeFrancis, Bobbie Fioravanti, Susan Price, Sandy Price, Debbie Habovick-Price. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of selflessness that will forever be remembered.
A Celebration of life will be held July 22nd, 2023 at 3pm at Eau Gallie Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in Murray's honor can be made to The Haven for Children.
Our family would like to express their deepest gratitude for all the kind words and support during this difficult time. May we all keep the memory of Murray alive by following his example of kindness, compassion, and generosity in our day-to-day lives.
