MICHAEL D. NEWBY
Michael Dean Newby was born April 10, 1956 in Gainesville, FL to Harold D. and Carolyn L. (Chenoweth) Newby. He died April 8, 2014 in Melbourne, FL, a lifetime resident except for his four years in the U.S. Air Force, mostly at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, NE. Mike's career as an electronics technician led him to Kennedy Space Center where he worked on the Space Shuttle program until its end.
Survivors include his mother, sister Vicki Thorp (Stephen) of Inglewood, CA; brothers, Brian Newby and Dale Newby (Kristine) of Melbourne, FL; nieces, Misty Baber (Dennis), Amber Newby, Samantha Stephens (Nathan), Stephanie Newby, Megan Riviezzo (Edward); grand-nieces and nephews, Ella Timmons, Frank Timmons, Ophelia Miracle, Zen Baber, Nirvana Baber, Bliss Baber, and Gunner Fairbanks. Mike was predeceased by his father and his nephew, Heath Timmons.
Mike was known for his love of nature, especially the beach, musical ability, sense of independence and his unique and wacky sense of humor. He will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.
